UPCOMING SHOW: ANTIGONE
In the aftermath of civil war, King Creon institutes an order barring the burial of Antigone's rebellious brother. In defiance, Antigone performs the burial rites and claims Creon's proclamation to be against the laws of the gods. The act shakes the foundations of civil life and prompts the questions: Who has control over life and death? What do we owe to the dead?
Evening shows are at 7pm on Friday May 30th, Saturday May 31st, Friday June 6th, and Saturday June 7th. Our matinee show is on Saturday, June 7th at 1pm. All shows will be in Girvetz Hall 1004.
This event is made possible with generous co-sponsorships from UCSB Associated Students IVCRC, UCSB Classics Department, the Early Modern Center, UCSB Department of English, the Graduate Student Association, the Literature and Mind Center, the Medieval Literature Center, and the Walter H. PARKING
There are two parking lots that are close by, and one larger parking structure that is a bit more of a walk.
Parking Lot 3 (Library Lot): This is the closest lot to Girvetz Hall. You can navigate to it by typing UCSB Library into Google maps. If you enter from the 217 through the Henley Gate: take the second right at the roundabout. Proceed along Lagoon Road until you hit the first stop sign. Make a right at the stop sign, and proceed down the road until you reach the end. Lot 3 will be on your right. Once you've parked here, you'll head north, towards the mountains. Girvetz 1004 is to your left, just before the white building called The Arbor. You will see a bunch of tables for outdoor seating.
Parking Lot 29 (Between HSSB and Pool): If you enter from the 217 through the Henley Gate: Take the first right at the roundabout. Proceed along Mesa Road until you hit the light at Ocean Road. Make a left onto Ocean Road, and then take a right at the bus loop. Make a left turn at the second light onto the service road that leads to Lot 29. Once you've parked here, you will head east along the path with the pool and the Old Gym to your left. You'll walk by South Hall, make a right past the bike parking, and then make a left using the covered walkway. Girvetz 1004 will be on your right.
Parking Structure 18/Lot 15: If you enter from the 217 through the Henley Gate: Take the first right at the roundabout. Proceed along Mesa Road until you hit the light at Ocean Road. Make a left onto Ocean Road and make another left at the first stoplight. From here, make a left into the parking structure or use one of the surface parking spots. Once you've parked here, you will head south towards the ocean. You'll pass through a large gray building called the Student Affairs Building. Depending on exactly where you parked, you will either pass through North Hall, or pass by Kerr Hall. If you pass through North Hall, continue going straight past the white building called the Arbor. Girvetz 1004 will be on your right. If you pass by Kerr Hall, turn left at South Hall, make a right past the bike parking, and then make a left using the covered walkway. Girvetz 1004 will be on your right.
